Carrying A Firearm In New Jersey
It is unlawful to knowingly possess and carry a:
- Handgun, including any antique handgun, without first obtaining a Permit to Carry. A Permit to Carry is required, and no differentiation is made between carrying openly or concealed.
- Rifle or shotgun without first obtaining a firearms purchaser identification card. A game law requires rifles and shotguns to be unloaded in a vehicle.
