Eugene LaVergne, Disbarred NJ Attorney Sentenced To 7 Years for Stealing $100,000

Monmouth County attorney Eugene LaVergne, was sentenced December 19,. 2014 to seven years in a New Jersey state prison after convicted of second-degree Misapplication of Entrusted Funds and fourth-degree Contempt of Court in Middlesex County Superior Court in New Brunswick.

In 2010 he was ordered by Judge Cavanagh [Monmouth County Superior Court] to hold $200,000 in escrow in his attorney trust account pending the resolution of certain issues in an estate matter. LaVergne took nearly half of those funds from the escrow  funds used them for his personal expenses.
