The 3 Fundamental Rules for Safe Gun Handling are:

1. Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction
2. Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot
3.  Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use
4. Know what is beyond your target
5. Use only correct ammunition along with eye and ear protection
6. Never use drugs or alcohol before or during shooting or handling guns
7. Make your guns inaccessible to unauthorized persons
